The Kardex Shuttle Vertical Lift Module (VLM) is an enclosed system that meets a broad range of storage and retrieval applications in manufacturing, distribution, retail and warehouse operations. It cost-effectively stores virtually anything, and gives quick and easy retrieval access to items. It can be installed in a variety of building situations, including through multiple floors and even installation outside the building. Because the device is modular in its construction, its height and number of access openings can be changed at any time, even after original construction.
How a Modular VLM worksA modular VLM has vertically arranged trays that are stored in the front and rear of the unit. Using Cubestar® technology, the Kardex Shuttle automatically scans every tray to find the ideal storage location within the system in increments of one inch to provide maximum storage density. At the push of a button or scan of a barcode, an extractor device in the center of the unit automatically delivers the requested tray with stored items to the access opening.
